Construction crew scheduling presents many challenges. Most construction projects require crews with the right skills to be scheduled and many job sites to cover. At each job site, crew members must also be assigned to various tasks or work orders. The schedulers must also consider time-off requests, labor rules, and worker availability when developing work crew’s schedules. Snap Schedule has robust features to help construction companies manage all facets of their employee scheduling.
Using spreadsheets, documents, online calendars, or paper to schedule construction workers and journeymen may be familiar. Perhaps it’s the way your organization has always done construction crew scheduling. While these methods may be sliding by, they lack the capabilities and features needed to increase efficiency, reduce labor costs, and promote employee work-life balance.
Watch this video to see how Snap Schedule can help you easily schedule construction workers. Migrating from the old scheduling method to Snap Schedule is simple and painless. You’ll wonder why you didn’t switch sooner.

Staff scheduling for construction companies like yours, is moving to the cloud. Whether you’re building family homes, office buildings, or industrial plants, you can manage your whole team in a snap, with Snap Schedule 365.
You can log in from anywhere: on your desktop, on your laptop, even on your tablet.
If your whole crew is working on one project, you may only need a couple of shifts. Perhaps your office staff works 9 to 5, and your crew gets an early start at the job site. You can drag and drop to add each employee to the right shift. Or, see all of your employees, and all of their assignments, and then drag and drop to assign a shift to the right person, on the right day. And then, highlight a cell, or a whole group of cells, and copy and paste to repeat those assignments the next day. Or, copy all of your assignments at once, for weeks, even months, at a time. And then, if one employee needs to make a change on one particular day, you can simply delete their assignment. I’ll schedule this employee for a paid vacation day.
Or maybe you’re working half a dozen projects at once. You can define the locations where you need to work. Describe the kinds of employees you need, like electricians, carpenters, plumbers, and so on. And then, create your own custom shifts, like an early shift on Main Street. When a project is complete, you can simply deactivate that shift—and reactivate it if you ever need to go back.
In the same way, you might deactivate a seasonal employee, and reactivate them the next time they’re available. And you can also specify each employee’s hourly wage… their contact information, including which subcontractor they work for… the locations where they’re authorized to work… any special skills or certifications, and when they’ll expire… how many hours they’re willing to work, per day and per week, and more.
Now, check our planning tools. Perhaps you need carpenters at one job site today, and plumbers at another. We’ll instantly compare these requirements to your actual assignments, and help you maintain proper coverage and avoid overstaffing. And you can also see how many hours you’ve assigned to each employee, and their total pay with overtime, so you can easily stick to your budget. Snap Schedule 365 can even flag any problems automatically. For instance, this part-time carpenter has too many hours, so we’ll give one of their shifts to somebody else.
Or maybe you have supervisors or safety inspectors who need to visit multiple job sites each day. You can schedule their assignments right down to the minute. This inspector will visit a job site this morning, attend a staff meeting at the office, take a break for lunch, and visit another job site after that.
And what about heavy equipment? Maybe your crews need to share the same crane. Just make that crane an “employee.” On the Skills tab, you can specify when it was last inspected, and when it’s due for service. And then, you can assign that crane to a shift, just like any employee. No more confusion, no more double-booking.
When your schedule is complete, you can send it out to your staff by email—or, just post it online, and invite your employees to log in from their web browser, or using our mobile apps for iPhone and Android. Now, they’ll know exactly when and where to report. And you can also allow them to request time off, punch in when they start their shift, and more.
You can even share Snap Schedule 365 with your senior staff, and use role-based security to easily control their access. Perhaps the foreman can assign shifts and approve time off… and an administrator can add new employees and run reports. It’s all up to you.
